Core slippage is a fairly common issue with the Epson 7570 and 9570. It happens more often with cotton and matte papers. The issue is a result of a couple factors. New to Epson design, the 7570 uses positive and negative tension when feeding and aligning rolls. The powered backwards movement puts negative tension on the roll material and can cause the paper to come disconnected from the core. Second, the splines of the core do not put enough pressure on the core. This causes core slippage and more negative tension.

We learned about it from one of our customers moved to Aurora Art White 300 from Epson and other brand fine art papers in an effort to avoid this problem. His quote:
It is a problem known to Epson and the wider Epson 7570/9570 community. The core holders for the 7570/9570 Epsons do not grip the cores tightly enough. We went around and around with this issue with both Breathing Color and Red River. A short term work-around (which, BTW has solved the problem) is to layer two layers of Gorilla tape to the splines of the hub. It then grips the core tightly enough to stop the detachments.
Here is how to correct this issue and avoid paper / core release - This is from an Epson field rep who came to assist a member of the above forum:
Skew Reduction: OFF (Disables the Sub PF roller completely which will create more direction tension between the paper feed rollers and the media core).
Back Tension: Extra High.
Paper Eject Roller: Use (Assists media exiting the printer using the exit roller/wheels after the platen)."
Gorilla Tape - Wrap the splines with two wraps of Gorilla tape, which will keep the core stable.
