Palo Duro Etching 315 Details & Information

Description
Description

Made from 100% cotton fiber, Palo Duro Etching 315 gives you the classic look of a fine photographic art print. The surface adds just the right amount of texture to your print and will not distract from the details you worked so hard to capture. This OBA-free paper is ideal for museum quality and conservation grade prints.

Why "Art" Paper for Photography?

For many years, cotton art papers were emulsion coated for darkroom printing. The result is sublime - an elegant surface texture and sophisticated hand-feel. With modern inkjet coating, your prints will have a powerful impact and are sure to please.

Warmer White Paper

Palo Duro Etching 315 is a natural white paper. This is because we do not add any chemicals that make paper look bright white. The whites of your image are going to take on an elegant, warmer look. This is a benefit for images of nature, skin tones, landscapes, rich black & whites and artwork reproductions.

Deep Blacks

You will be amazed that a matte paper can make luxurious deep blacks. The secret is a barrier coat between the paper and inkjet receiving layer. Ink stays locked into the inkjet coating and cannot sink into the paper base. The results are luxurious deep blacks.

Museum Grade

This means a museum curator would be comfortable putting this paper on display. The keys to museum quality are 100% cotton fiber, acid-free, lignin-free, and optical brightener (OBA) free.

So glad I found RRP

I just got into the reprint business with an older Canon ImagePrograf ipf 765 that was given to me because it was older model and replaced by a newer version. My event center business has been pretty much shut down since March and since I also have art shows here from time to time I thought why not try learning a new craft? I had been printing on plotters for more than 15 years, mostly photos on inexpensive bond paper, nothing really significant or permanent. I did all the research online and Red River kept coming up. I read everything about the papers, service, choices and selections and ordered one roll of Aurora Art White 250. First thing I wondered was price per sq. ft. and that was easy because you indicate it in your postings. I received the paper in a few days, printed a bunch of stuff, then I ordered your sample set of papers and added some Aurora Art White 285 so I have two thicknesses of paper. I printed 150 beautiful Christmas cards for my house artist of a commission he did for me and that was a great learning experience to do a production job. The heavyweight paper is so impressive but thank goodness I have a rotary paper cutter, that's almost as important as the paper itself. I also made some large reprints as samples for my artists to review. I did all kinds of web surfing in the beginning and know I don't need to try to get a better deal or different paper because the testimonials were all accurate and RRP has everything I need. Turns out the printer is still putting out beautiful images and I'm working with an artist to have another art show this Summer, Covid laws permitting. One thing I immediately learned is I can now take an old, obsolete piece of artwork and recycle the frame with a new print custom made for the frame! Final comments, your packaging is precise, so thoughtfully boxed with first class materials which I am keeping to preserve prints and storage. Your website is also first class, so easy to order and know prices and specs. And admittedly, it was nice to get in on the sale you had for a novice like me. I may pull the trigger on the canvas paper and get that option out there. I'm hoping in June we can be open and have a big show and all the reprints will be on RRP!

Pablo Duro Etching 315 - best decision I’ve made

Verified Buyer
I’m a watercolor artist who wanted to sell prints of my paintings. I initially tried the ‘outsourcing’ approach, but it was way too expensive, with limited control over the process. So I bought a nice giclee printer for home and the supplies needed to stand up a DIY, print on demand approach. I bought all the supplies I needed in bulk: backboards, mats, cellophane sleeves, reinforced envelopes. When it came to paper, I wanted high end because I wanted to give buyers the next best thing to the original painting itself. I tried the giclee printer MFR’s paper. It was nice stuff but they were frequently “out of stock”, super slow to ship orders, and don’t offer sizes that match standard mats and frames…, so I had to trim every finished print with a paper cutter; such a waste of time and paper. I ran across a site that mentioned Red River paper, so I bought a box of Palo Duro Etching 315. Best decision I’ve made as far as paper goes. Just like the MFR’s recommended paper…, really nice paper! 100% cotton, 21 mil thick, natural white with a textured matte and slightly lower in price. But no “out of stock” issues and shipping times are reasonable and consistent. The biggest plus is Red River offers the exact sizes I need for standard off-the-shelf matting and framing (e.g., 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20). No more wasted time and paper trimming prints to size. Now I print, assemble and ship. Red River Palo Duro Etching 315 is now my primary source for paper.

Great for old photo restorations

I have a portrait and wedding studio that also does restorations and scans old photos. I just recently discovered Palo Duro Etching 315, and it's a beautiful paper for those warm colors and works great for sepia-toned photos. Its texture also gives the older photos an original look. While Polar Matte is my go-to for most old photos, Palo Duro Etching 315 is there for those that need a little different look.

The rough handmade look of this paper adds the necessary character for portraits. Looks great with sepia, and it holds a lovely deep black. I spray it with Premier Print Shield for extra depth and protection.

I'm a watercolor artist and these are the best paper/texture for recreating the original as prints to sell without losing any quality. Love them!
