Summer 2016 Winners Announced for “How Do You Share Great Photographs” Contest

Red River Paper is pleased to announce the winners of the How Do You Share Great Photographs contest which wrapped up on July 31. In association with Corbell Photographic Workshops, photo enthusiasts were asked to submit stories about how they share their great photographs.

It’s wonderful to see the creativity in our photo community. Red River Paper is used in many classrooms by students and educators. Will Milne’s students in Denton, Texas, use Red River gloss to print photographs that are used on drink coasters. They sell these around town to raise money for their class activity fund.

Several entrants use the wide variety of Red River greeting card stock to create cards for not only family and friends but also to sell as fund raisers or business. “I receive joy in sharing my art with others and allowing them to hold that art in their hands,” says Mark Winter who’s entry titled “Charleston” wowed the judges.

Four winners were selected and each will receive an autographed copy of Rob Hull’s new book How To Take Great Photographs. This book, published by Amherst Media, is for the beginning and aspiring photographer who wants to unlock the secrets of outstanding lighting, composition and camera control. Every topic is clearly laid out in distinctly understandable language with stunning illustrations.

If you’re not lucky enough to be one of the four award winners, you can get your own copy of Rob’s book from Amazon, Barnes & Noble or your local camera store.

The winners of our contest – in no particular order – are:

“I love to give gifts of my photos.  They have been in framed pictures (the one attached was matted and framed), or bundles of note cards with different wildlife scenes.  Not only do I receive enjoyment from taking photographs, but I also receive joy is sharing my art with others and allowing them to hold that art in their hands.”

“My photography students use Red River Paper to help us make photo coasters that we sell at a few different businesses in town to help raise money for our class activity fund. Red River gives us the gloss we need to not only make products that sell, but also help make our hometown (Denton, TX) and class look great!”

“I have taken a lot of pictures of the inside and outside of my church, Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Hagerstown, MD, USA, and the members of my church really love my work. One year, they had an auction featuring two of my photos, printed on Red River UltraPro Satin. I have also been selling greeting cards printed on RR stock. Lately, I have been experimenting with the Aurora Fine Art paper and I love the dreamy cast that it gives my photos. Another favorite of mine is the Polar Pearl Metallic. It gives my images a special polished look that could not be obtained anywhere else.”

“I created a 5 X 7 notecard with a collage of photos from a recent hot air balloon ride. The ride was a special birthday gift from the kids! Each will receive this card with a special thank you.”
